Tittel
A prosthetic wrist with an oblique plane of motion to optimize device weight, size and functionality
Sammendrag
There are inevitable limitations imposed on the design of practical terminal devices, which precludes multiple motorised joints. The majority of powered wrist units available possess a pronation/supination, but little work has been undertaken to verify if this axis is the most functionally effective (Ross, 2005). This study investigates the question: If only one degree-offreedom can be used in a wrist prosthesis, what is its functionally optimal axis of rotation?
