The concept of Farmers’ Rights and its applicability to the Women Seed Enterprises project in Kenya

The presentation gave an introduction to Farmers’ Rights as they are recognised in the Plant Treaty. The intorcution covered the history and concept, and the Options for the realization of Farmers’ Rights, that have been developed under the Plant Treaty. It further highlighted key agenda items for the upcoming 10th Session of the Plant Treaty’s Governing Body, as a preparation for Seed Savers Kenya as they weregoing to be present at such a session for the first time. Finally the new website on Farmers’ Rights developed under the DIVERSIFARM-project as a gateway to research-based in formation on the topic was presented. On this basis the applicability of farmers' rights to Kenya Seed Savers and a particular project that they have developed was discussed.
