Introduction:
eHealth interventions have been shown to offer people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) the opportunity of embracing dialysis therapies with greater confidence, the potential to obtain better clinical outcomes, and increased quality of life. eHealth interventions or solutions can offer one-way information without the possibility for dialogue, as with most mobile apps. The patients have already access to parts of their electronic health record (EHR) through e.g. patient portals, but issues relating to participation in eHealth communication, are scarcely described.
Standardized Nursing Languages have been shown to ensure the quality of nursing and simplify the nurses’ documentation in the EHR. The International Classification of Nursing Practice (ICNP) is to be introduced in the EHR in a specialist health service region in Norway. The nursing standardized plans e.g. for chronic kidney disease (CKD), are meant to be individualized to each patient.
As part of a larger Ph.D.-project we wanted, as a precursor to a coming intervention, to identify evidence about the participative role of people living with CKD and undergoing hemodialysis (HD) in available communicative eHealth interventions with health care personnel (HCP).
