CONGRATULATION TO ALBA AND FERI!!! They earned their Master in Marine Sciences!

Two of our brilliant master students from Milano-Bicocca university have just had their GRADUATION DAY Their remarkable theses were developed using data collected by ROV Aegir6000 within the framework of project AKMA, and their work contributed in advancing our understanding of cold seeps systems and associated habitats. The two students had the great opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies, such us the aegir6000 ROV and work on-board the Kronsprins Haakon, acquiring direct experience of what happe on-board during an oceanographic expedition participated by different research Institutes and carried out with advanced infrastructures. ABOUT their RESEARCH With dedication and passion, Alba analysed the complex geomorphology of the Pockmark located to the South of the Vestnesa ridge, producing high resolution photomosaics using AEGIR6000 Videos and including analysis on benthic forams. Fereshteh explored the Norskebanken area and produced a unique catalouge of macrofauna and substrates (in collaboration with Pedro A. Ribeiro and the Centre for Deep Sea Research of Bergen - UiB) annotating and mapping their spatial distribution on ROV-based photomosaics. The mosaics were also classified applying object-Based Image Analysis techniques (OBIA).
