OCTAS (Ocean Circulation and Transport between north Atlantic and the Arctic Sea) project aims to determine Mean Dynamic Topography (MDT) in the Fram Strait and adjacent seas. This is a crucial input for ocean circulation and ocean mass transport studies in the polar region. Determination of a high precision Mean Sea Surface (MSS) and an accurate geoid, towards an improved MDT model for the OCTAS region, is among the main goals of the project.
