Sammendrag
The area surrounding the river Tvinna in Stryn municipality, Sogn og Fjordane County, Western Norway, is a mire landscape of great interest for nature protection. From Heia and along the valley several mire types are represented, including small areas o f rich fen. Large sloping fens are found south of Tvinna. Based on investigations undertaken in 1980 and 1984, it was proposed to establish a nature reserve along the river Tvinna and by Klebersdalsvatnet. The landowners wish to modify the boundaries pr oposed by the authorities. Investigations made during the summer 2000 showed important qualities within these areas that should be protected, such as the size of the mires and the occurrence of rich fen. The alternative boundaries presented here, aim to preserve these qualities. However, some less interesting parts may be omitted from the protected area. This is land with an economical potential for the owners, e.g. for cultivation. The Tvinna area has been used for grazing and harvesting of winter fo dder for a long time. Such usage has to be kept up in the future to maintain this open cultural landscape. A management plan must be made for the nature reserve.
