Tittel

Computation of mean free-air gravity anomalies by Bjerhammar's deterministic and collocation methods over Scandinavia

Sammendrag

Two methods are used to compute mean gravity anomalies in 6' x 10' cells over Scandinavia. Some numerical investigations are implemented in two test areas. The results show that Bjerhammar's deterministic and least squares collocation methods are mostly in good agreement with each other in this study. Mean gravity anomalies are then estimated using these two methods over a large area (6x 3) in Sweden. The results show an absolute maximum difference of 3.46mGal. The average and standard deviation of differences are -1.02mGal and 1.08mGal, respectively. These results show that either of these two methods are appropriate to predict mean gravity anomalies. Finally, mean free-air gravity anomalies are computed by Bjerhammar's deterministic method over Scandinavia
