Environmental Reporting in marine transport

This paper presents current and future trends and requirements for environmental reporting. It gives a brief overview of environmental management tools and their applications, and presents results of various case studies on the assessment of environmental performance within marine transport. The results are developed through a series of projects done within Norwegian shipbuilding and shipping companies over the last decade. The projects have laid the foundation of environmental accounting and reporting systems. The paper further focuses on future challenges on developing indicators for eco-efficiency measures. Shipping companies as well as other transport companies, will face requirements to report for benchmarking.
