Sammendrag
The expression 'Guðs þakka' is known in two runic inscriptions, one f rom Rogaland, Norway the other from Uppland, Sweden. The context for both are inscritions stating that somebody made a bridge for somebody else's sole - a commonplace particularly in Swedish runic inscriptio ns. The significance of this expression, obviously translated from ag s. 'Godes þances' is discussed in relation to the process of Christia nization of Norway and Sweden. The possibility is discussed if this e xpression may reflect some sort of early tithe reduction for services granted to the comunity - such as the building of bridges - a phenom enon known from somewhat later Icelandic law.
