Sammendrag
This article will focus on paradigmatic changes in the assessment and treatment of children with developmental co-ordination disorder, fro m global solution 'intervention' (the old paradigm) to more specific problem solving (the new paradigm). A brief history of global Percept ual-Motor Training as an intervention procedure is critically present ed and used to focus attention on a 'new paradigm'. DCD children do n ot constitute a homogeneous group, therefore, it is important to dete rmine the underlying causes of the problem to be able to pin-point wh ere therapy needs to be directed. An attempt in this direction has be en made in recent research discussed in this article where attention is turned to a specific sub-category of developmental co-ordination d isorder, namely, those exhibiting problems in hand-eye co-ordination.
