Sammendrag
An investigation of the packing of fibre and aggregate particles was carried out based on the relation between angularity of fibres and their packing, and the use of equivalent packing diameter of fibres in an analytical packing equation. The results of comparisons between reviewed packing measurements of fibre-aggregate mixes and binary packing calculations agree best for narrow aggregate fractions as expected. However, for wider aggregate size ranges a multi component packing model extending from Westmans equation for binary mixes with two interaction coefficients was found to fit reasonably. The use of equivalent packing diameter to visualize whether a fibre will fill up a void space, thus increasing packing, or dissolve the mix giving reduced packing, seems adequate.
