Sammendrag
Associated larvae and pupae of Tanytarsus lapponicus Lindeberg, 1970 are described
for the first time, and the male adult is redescribed. The species is morphologically most similar
to Tanytarsus fennicus Lindeberg, 1970 and the adult male fits the diagnosis for the relatively
heterogenous norvegicus species group. The larval mandible, however, shows affinities with the
lugens species group, and could incorrectly be treated as such in subfossil material. T. lapponicus
is recorded from northern Fennoscandia and Canada. In the Killarney Provincial Park, Ontario,
the species is so far found to inhabit lakes within a pH range from 5.8 to 7.7, pointing at a promising
indicator species of non-acid conditions
