Sport and Religion - Perspectives and Impulses to the Ethical Discourse about Sport?

Sport and religion are still an uncommon combination at first sight. But when for example thinking about a sports phenomenon like the Olympic Games, we have one of the possible approaches to this topic which should make clear the relevance. It is not only the fact of the religious like elements of the idea of the Olympic Games - Coubertin was talking about "religio athletae"- , but more the ethical notions given in the Olympic Charter with being very demanding. This paper wants to discuss several aspects around the combination sport and religion and give an overview on the perspectives on sports from different relgions' point of view.
