Sammendrag
A major developmental factor regarding our society is that the society is getting more and more complex, and in this society each individual experience that the individual freedom and the possibilities to realise his/her own dreams and projects are increasing. The school and the teacher are involved in this development, and there is a strong discussion on how this involvement is and ought to be. On one hand the school and the teacher are put forward as a possible counterweight against increased registration of intolerance, individualism and social exclusion, and in time as ambassadors for a growing realisation of a situation where the individual needs the surrounding community. On the other hand one can say that today school is not able to cope with the challenges which influence the juveniles (cultural and educational) projects. One can also see how patterns of dependability, traditions and moral conventionalism have been broken or torn down, and replaced by extended freedom for each and everyone. At the NORMA 08 - conference this was the subject of a Theme Group Discussion, a discussion which as been summed up in the present article.
