Design and simulation of the ESMO attitude control system

This paper deals with simulations of the attitude control system of the ESMO satellite by use of MATLAB/Simulink using Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulations for satellite hardware testing. This is performed through the use of a dSPACE DS1102 DSP control board connected to attitude control hardware. The satellite model is created through the use of Simulink, with the model adapted for transition to the dSPACE tool. A discussion with respect to satellite response using Hardware-in-the-Loop, as well as performance of the reaction wheels and its proposed control structure is given.
