Linking entrepreneurial orientation and dynamic capabilities : building new business platforms in the agricultural sector

This paper presents a theoretical fundament for discussing and investigating how farm entrepreneurs reconfigure resources and develop new business platforms. Theoretical perspectives from strategic management and entrepreneurship research are used. According to the theoretical discussion, internal factors - here conceptualized in entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and dynamic capabilities (DC) - will have a great impact on the development of the firm. However, there seem to be few previous studies that have integrated the two concepts into one approach. Since both concepts are highly relevant for entrepreneurial firms the paper attempts to integrate both EO and DC into one theoretical model in order to explore new insight. The aim is to refine the content and increase the understanding of both EO and DC and their influence on the process of resource reconfiguration and building of new business platforms.
