The amount of force that can be generated in a particular movement context is not only determined by the efficiency of single muscles, but also by the effectiveness of muscular coordination (Bobbert and van Soest, 1994; Caroll, Riek and Carson, 2001, Nagano and Gerritsen, 2001; Rutherford and Jones, 1986). Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the effects of two different ballistic training regimes, with and without the possibility to utilize the proximal to distal coordination between knee and ankle, upon maximal vertical jump performance.
