Sammendrag
The goal of the study was to evaluate the effects of assertive community mental health treatment (ACT) administered by an out-patient team of health professionals, to patients with recent onset schizoprenic disorders. 50 patients were randomly selected to one of two groups, one group receiving ACT treatment(ACT-group)n=30) and another group (n=20) receiving treatment as usual (TAU group). All patients were prescribed antipsychotic drugs at study entry. The ACT group received structured family psychoeducation, social skills training, individual psychotherapy, problem solving training and evidence-based optimal treatment against comborbidity. The two-year outcome showed that the ACT group had significant less psychotic relapses and rehospitalizations. There were no differences with respect to BPRS or GAF psychopathology at the two-year assessment.
