Organizational agility as core competence

This research proposes a model that attempts to relate the theoret- ical components of various researchers and practitioners concerning Core Competency and strategic flexibility together with the emerging ideas of organizational agility. This paper consists of a short review of common definitions and sugg- estions of criterion for key components of the concept of core compet ence; a short literature review of the ideas of strategic flexibility and change in the current stream of competence-based research, a pre sentation and depiction of the model of organizational agility as de- veloped through empirical research; an outlining of the parallels be- tween the concepts of agility, flexibility and change with a discus- sion on the constructive consideration of organizational agility as core competence; and proposed steps that might further link the two research areas by continuing the search for a common terminology and framework.
