New algal carotenoids

New algal carotenoids published during the last 12 years will be presented. The lecture gives a summary of the field, divided into three groups: - new algal carotenoid esters and sugars from various algal classes - new fucoxanthin derivatives (esters and 4-keto-derivatives) - novel carotenoids from Prasinophyceae, with structural comparisons between the carotenoids and probably biosynthetic precursors of uriolide A warning about chemotaxonomy based on carotenoids in Prasinophyceae is also included.
