The link between the organizations institutional frameworks for continued entrepreneurship and internal and external oriented innovation behavior among employees

Sammendrag

The aim of the paper is to explore how employees perceive the innovation concept in practice, and to reveal drivers for employee innovation behavior. This study advances our knowledge on how to understand organizational change involving employees by addressing a topic that has received little research attention, but is crucial in fostering continued entrepreneurship for the further survival of the organization; employee innovation behavior. The paper shows how the employee¿s perception of the organizations institutional framework for continued entrepreneurship is linked to the employee behavior toward innovation. The organizations institutional framework toward continued entrepreneurship relates to regulative, cognitive and normative factors (Busenitz et al., 2000). The study also shows that employees perceive innovation to relate to two separate components; internal (routine improvements) and external (new products and markets) oriented innovation.
