Historiens nytteverdi

Ifølge Norges Forskningsråds evaluering fra 2008, er det et behov for sterkere selvrefleksjon rundt historeforskningens "nytte". I denne artikkelen synliggjør jeg hvilken nytteverdi historiefaget har gjennom å trekke fram eksempler på minimalisering og marginalisering av historien - og hvilke samfunnsmessige konsekvenser dette har. Jeg berører også hvordan historiefaget kan bidra til et høyere og mer presist refleksjonsnivå rundt aktuelle samfunnsspørsmål, og historikeres samfunnsrolle som forvaltere og formidlere av historie. According to Norges Forskningsråd, there is a need for a stronger self-reflection among norwegian historians when it comes to which value their profession has. In this article, I visualize which value it could have by giving some examples of minimalizing and marginalizing history - and the consequences of it shown in society. I also give examples of how history can contribute to a higher and more distinct level of reflection about current issues in society. Finally, I mention historians role as managers and communicators of history as crucial for the importance and value of this profession.
