The price of broadcasting rights for Europe's number one professional team sport, soccer, is (at the time of this writing) on a comparable level with the price paid for NFL games in the United States (after adjusting for differences in population). However, whereas we have seen similar price escalation in the broadcasting rights for the second, third, and fourth professional team sports in the United States, the acceleration in the growth of price of broadcasting sports in Europehas pushed soccer way ahead of the rest.
