An overview is given of the development of a content learning management system (CLMS) that addresses the specialized requirements for distributed distance education and learning in natural sciences. This include presentation modes which explore use of digital blackboards, as well as suport for virtual mobility. The new services will provide a web-based communication platform for dynamical information exchange and management in a pedagogical framework. The federated architecture enables straightforward development, exchange, and publication of material through open standards like XML/MathML. Presence at distance is obtained by syncronously use of high quality multipoint videoconferencing and application sharing technologies.
