AVD-Merge: Pedagogical Frameworks within Audio-Visual Communication

Sammendrag

Videoconferencing offers a communication and collaboration environment where audio and video are transmitted in real time between two or several locations, across in principle unlim-ited distances. Many videoconferencing systems might also communicate data in various ways, whereby they might be used effective for distance training purposes and in telemedicine. Streaming video offers one way audio and video communication to many locations at the same time. The end user might participate by using a PC. Access might be limited by using pass-words. The streaming video might be stored on servers, whereby it might be accessed as video on demand. Limitations in quality of videoconference equipment have greatly been alleviated recently through the new advanced video compression standard H.264 with XGA support. This report presents an analysis of pedagogical frameworks regarding the integration of audio and video communications into technological enhanced courses by focusing on technical education.
