Deployment of activity based training models into just-in-time training

Sammendrag

This paper outlines and discusses learning design of industrial in company skills upgrading processes utilizing Activity Based Training (ABT) to offer just-in-time transfer of competence. ABT courses are structured in a number of job orders with subsequent job-packages that improve knowledge and competence transfer according to a just-in-time job production workflow approach, where theoretical and practical training follows each other closely. ABT merge blended learning methodologies mixing on site training with self paced learning through e-learning, and inclusion of state of the art visual communication and collaboration solutions, e.g. industrial video streaming. Examples targeting use of video clips within welding of stainless steel are given. Mechanical industry, e.g. welder¿s trainers and welders, constitute model user groups. The ABT principles may be utilized by in company skills upgrading processes where the production workflow is divided into job packages.
