Tittel

Public Service Broadcasters Will Survive Without Expensive Sports Programs: A Response to Tjernstrom and Tjernstrom

Sammendrag

The article presents the third part in a series of articles about European public service broadcasters (PSB), and whether or not they should pay the expensive rights fees required to broadcast more costly sporting events. The author is responding to the previous article by Sune Tjernström and Emilia Tjernström, who argue that PSBs should broadcast any event that they want, thereby enabling an unregulated 'free' media market. In conclusion, the author suggests that PSBs should not be in competition with commercial broadcasters.
