A preliminary report on a novel combination of multiple laboratory types in a module on analogue electronics

A remote laboratory has been set up in an exercises program for an Analogue Electronics module. The motivation for the use of the remote laboratory is that students often struggle with complex laboratory exercises due to distracting and complicating factors like troubleshooting connections, use of signal sources and measurement units and reading and interpreting schematics, all of which are activities where training is given separately in simple laboratory exercises. This paper reports on how students benefit from the use of remote laboratories as an addition to classic hands-on laboratories.
