Combining nature protection and sustainable use. Status and challenges from a Norwegian-Russian perspective

This report is a collection of five papers addressing the status and challenges of integrating sustainable use and area protection in North-West Russia and Northern Norway. The report focuses on themes such as the history of protected area conservation in Norway and Russia, and the changing roles of involvement from central government, local communities, academicians, voluntary associations, non-governmental organisations and emerging eco-tourism enterprises. Together, the different chapters of the report provides an understanding of present policies and institutional structures relating to nature protection in Norway and Russia.
