Defended PhD thesis “Decline in resting heart rate, its association with other variables, and its role in cardiovascular disease; the Tromsø Study” in February 2017. From February 2017 till March 2018 - the primary investigator in the project about blood pressure, blood pressure changes and the risk of atrial fibrillation in the Tromsø Study which is funded by the Norwegian Health Association’s board in Troms County (Nasjonalforeningen i Troms). From April 2018 till April 2021 - the principal investigator and the leader of the project "Atrial fibrillation in the Tromsø Study 1986-2017: incidence trends, contribution of risk factors and prognostic outcomes" which is funded by Helse Nord. From 2019 till 2023 - the project leader and main supervisor for a PhD project "Risk factors, quality of life and prognostic outcomes associated with specific types of atrial fibrillation; the Tromsø Study”.
