This project aims at developing and strengthening cooperation links between higher educational institutions and enterprises in Norway and Brazil. The entities taking part in the project are as follows. Four higher education institutions, namely the University College of Southeast Norway (USN) and the Military Institute of Technology (IME), Brazil, as main partners, plus the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) as local network partner plus the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil, as network partner in Brazil. In addition, we have POSICOM AS, Norway, Kongsberg Seatex AS, Norway, and FMC Technologies, Norway, as enterprise partners.
The activities target by the partner institutions are: student mobility and participation in projects and research activities, facilitation of student involvement in R&D projects, study visits for academic and administrative staff, guest lecturing, workshops and seminars involving lecturers, supervisors or advisers from the public or private sector.
The project will also have a focus on research targeting relevant and emerging topics in Signal Processing and Communications. To facilitate the access to learning material we are also devoting some effort to developing digital contents, including both theoretical and lab material, to be made available online to our students. The objective is to try to improve the students learning experience.
At the same time, we will discuss and design a joint international Master degree with focus on Applied Signal Processing and Communications that can be of the interest of the industry given the increasing demand for technological solutions. Current technological developments require solid and integrated knowledge in these two fields. It is therefore expected that we will seek to attract more industrial and enterprise partners interested in collaborating with us.
