Every year, nearly 30.000 patients carry out rehabilitation at a rehabilitation center in secondary care in Norway.
Systematic data on age, gender and referral diagnosis are reported within the regional health authorities. As a group, there is sparse knowledge of the characteristics of the rehabilitation patients, i.e. their function and health. In addition, there is little knowledge of changes in these variables after rehabilitation at a rehabilitation center.
This study aims to survey rehabilitation patients with residence in the western Norway accepted for rehabilitation at a rehabilitation center. Furthermore, the study aims to investigate changes in the main outcomes: function and health, with particular focus on activity and participation, as well as health-related quality of life.
An investigation of associations between the relational coordination in rehabilitation teams and the patients’ reported benefit and experienced continuity of care will be conducted. Further, the relational coordination in inter-professional teams will also be investigated regarding associations between team function and patients health outcomes.
Registry data on socio-economic and socioeconomic variables, as well as the use of health services, employment status and sick leave will be obtained.
